Yesterday was a long moving day, and the last day of the shelter Esperanza Hoy. After a year of opening, it was time to move on and to fill other needs with a new project to be announced very soon. In a year, the shelter welcomed hundreds and hundreds of caminantes per months, stopping by for a meal, a place to rest, a shower, a discussion, a night of sleep, in this little island of tranquillity at 42 km from the border of Venezuela. For a last tribute to the shelter, one of our coordinators has collected memories: from previous volunteers of the past year as well as shelter’s staff, from April 2022 to April 2023.
